The 2022+ Nissan Frontier Snorkel Kit by Z1 Off-Road moves the air inlet to a higher point on the a-pillar where air is cleaner, minimizing intrusion from dirt and reducing the risk of hydrolock when crossing water. Oh, and it looks awesome!
The air inlet on your Frontier is located inside the driver-side fender well behind the fender liner. This allows the engine to draw cooler air from outside of the engine bay. On off-road applications, this tends to be a less-than-ideal location, as it makes it easy for water and other debris to enter the intake system when you're off-roading. This is most commonly seen during water crossings in off-road environments. Our snorkel kit relocates the air inlet to the top of the a-pillar near the roofline, offering more protection from Mother Nature when you are adventuring off-road.
THE DESIGN
When surveying other snorkels on the market, it seemed as though other designs stopped at function and any considerations of appearance were cast aside. While the primary goal is to move the inlet and provide a water-tight seal, we wanted to devote just as much time and energy to making the snorkel look great and match the body profile of the truck. To accomplish this, our engineering team completed a 3D scan of the Frontier's body using our Artec Leo scanner. By creating the surface model from the scan data, our team was able to ensure the snorkel design fit the body profile precisely. The aerodynamic shape minimizes audible air effects while profile and placement minimize intrusion into the driver's sight lines at various seating positions. The head of the snorkel was developed to match the tube and body, though if desired, the inlet tube is compatible with all other 4" inlets, such as a pre-cleaner.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The snorkel tube, body, and are rotomolded using precision dies for precise fitment and is manufactured from Cross-Linked High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE/PEX). This material offers outstanding UV resistance, flexibility, and strength providing excellent durability and protection from the elements at a wide range of temperatures. Inside of the fender, silicone and EPDM couplers are provided to attach to the engine's air intake. Silicone and EPDM were chosen for these components due to their durability and their great sealing characteristics.
THE INSTALLATION
Cutting a hole in your fender is intimidating. If you start in the wrong place or get your cut wrong, you're stuck with what you've started. To take the guess work out of the install process, we've developed an industry-first innovation by producing a three-dimensional vacuum-formed template. This template is formed to the shape of the fender and falls into the correct position the first time. Cut with confidence.
