Product Description
The Z1 Platinum Series Aluminum Driveshaft is the lightest and strongest driveshaft available for the Nissan 350Z. Weighing in at 15.5 lbs vs the stock shaft at 17.25 lbs, the Z1 driveshaft is constructed of 3.5" diamater .125" wall thickness aluminum tubing specifically designed by Spicer for use in high performance driveline applications.
The U.S. made Spicer components and U-joints are not only of extremely high quality and strength, but the U-Joints are also serviceable (replaceable) unlilke those in the factory OE driveshaft.
Z1 offers a lifetime warranty on this driveshaft against breakage. If you break it we will replace it, excluding accidents, external damage, or abrasions. For instance, if something is rubbing against a driveshaft as it is spinning it will cut a groove into the aluminum and eventually cut the driveshaft in two. This would not be covered under warranty.

At a 147,000 miles on my 2003 350z track, it was time to change out the old drive shaft and install a new one. I did a lot research before I bought this item and after it being installed the vibration from the transmission was gone. My car is lowered 1inch from factory ride height and clearing speed bumps with the new driveshaft isnt an issue. The part was professionally installed and I dont hear any dings or abnormal noises. The engineering team did an awesome job developing a nonrepairable item to a serviceable part to extend the life of the drive shaft. Thanks!

2008 350z Base. My factory u-joints were starting to fail, had a high speed vibration like tires were out of balance. I wanted an aftermarket replacement that had serviceable u-joints and the aluminum driveshaft from Z1 came up. This driveshaft got rid of that high speed vibration and actually weighs LESS than the factory carbon fiber composite one! The diameter is larger than the factory one but I did not have any clearance issues. If you're in need of a new driveshaft for your 350z the aluminum driveshaft from Z1 Motorsports is a great option!

Installed this drive shaft on my 2008 350z Nismo after my U-joints started to go out. The stock drive shaft has welded U-joints that can't be serviced and this drive shaft fixes that, it was also the best priced replacement I could find. One downside is that my stock drive shaft is carbon fiber composite so aluminum would be a downgrade. However, after feeling the weight of both drive shafts they seem about the same, the aluminum one might be like 2 pounds heavier but nothing that would matter much. It certainly beats buying a $900 OEM drive shaft.
My only real complaint is that there are some clearance issues on my car, the stock drive shaft has about a 1/4 inch dip at the ends to make clearance for some parts under the car. Without that, this drive shaft seems to occasionally hit the shifter linkage. It isn't too bad but you can hear it when you blip the throttle hard and let off you will hear it tap the linkage and move the shifter. It can be avoided for now with smoother driving. For now I would rate 3/5 because of this issue but I will be looking into raising the linkage to give it a bit more clearance.
