Product Description

Z1's Billet Fuel Pump Top Hat for the 370Z and G37 is a complete upgrade for the factory plastic top hat found on the original fuel pump assembly. It can be assembled to be used with the stock return-less fuel system or with an aftermarket return-style fuel system and allows you to plumb returned fuel directly into the tank with minimal modification to the plastic fuel pump sending unit.

The plastic top hat on the factory fuel pump assembly is a common failure point, breaking where the support rods attach the basket to the hat. This occurs as high g-forces coupled with the motion of the fuel in the tank over-stress the plastic, allowing the lower portion of the assembly to break free and fall into the tank.

To counter this problem, Z1's engineering team designed a billet hat that attached to the pump basket with two thread-in stainless steel rods. This method promises unmatched durability, ensuring your Z is ready for whatever you throw at it, whether you're at the track or on your daily commute. A 6-pin Apex 2.8 Bulkhead Connector is used to power the pump, providing an OEM-level connection with the capability of handling higher current draw of upgraded fuel pumps. Installation requires wiring into the factory wire harness. For this reason, professional installation is recommended.

OPTIONS

The Z1 Billet Top Hat can be purchased in two configurations to accommodate factory-style returnless fuel systems or aftermarket-style return fuel systems.

Returnless Fuel System - If purchasing this option, you will receive a slim 8AN ORB plug to be used in the pre-machined return port and associated installation hardware. This version can be upgraded at a later point if a return-style fuel system is installed.

Return Fuel System - If purchasing this option, you will receive a second 8AN fitting for the return port as well as associated return hoses and hardware. It is assumed that this is being used with an aftermarket fuel pump, so a hose is supplied to accommodate either 8mm or 10mm aftermarket fuel pumps with different outlet port sizes. If purchasing for a return fuel system, you will also receive a billet fuel pressure regulator delete to replace the stock in-tank regulator.

Easy installation perfect fix to the snapped oem fuel basket, wiring was a bit tricky to wrap my head around but after a few watches of YouTube and getting the volt meter out i worked it out , must have upgrade for any z owner ! And pair it with the surge mat kit and youll never have to touch the fuel system again

This is a really nice upgrade especially when paired with the Anti-Starvation kit. With my G37 the ground for the fuel gauge and fuel temp come together on one pin. This left a 6th pin on the electrical connector on the high hat. I used that pin to run a new power through the top hat to the extra fuel pump added with the anti-starvation kit. With doing both kits at the same time, I was able to connect the second fuel pump ground with the main fuel pump ground right at the connector at the bottom of the new top hat. In reading some of the reviews on the anti-starvation kit, the only complaint is the always on, draining the driver side fuel down to empty issue. I resolved this by picking up power from my abandoned seat heaters, running that through a relay, and switching the relay with a ball bearing tilt switch used in an alarm install (ground switched relay). I put a light on my dash to tell me when power is going to the fuel pump so I can adjust the switch angle for optimum performance.
